Diabetes risk score ‘RAPID” is a validated risk score was developed by using simple parameters namely age, waist circumference, and family history of diabetes. It is a simple diabetes risk score was designed based on a set of variables that can be used for the identification of high-risk individuals without needing laboratory tests and physician interpretation thereby making it cost effective for national screening programs at primary care level for early intervention to delay or prevent type 2 diabetes in Pakistani population.

How to calculate RAPID risk score
People having RAPID score 4 or more than 4 points should have FBS/RBS/OGTT tests.
Diagnostic Criteria
Diabetes can be diagnosed on the basis of any of the following World Health Organization (WHO) criteria and American Diabetes Association (ADA) and IDF criteria:
Fasting plasma glucose: ≥126 mg/dl (≥ 7.0 mmol/dl) – Fasting defined as no caloric intake for minimal 8 hours, or
Random plasma glucose: ≥200 mg/dl (11.1 mmol/l) in the presence of symptoms or
