Objectives of Prevention Program
Primary Objective
Launch nationwide primary prevention program to reduce risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Secondary Objectives
- Studies on nutritional status of people with appropriate intervention with the objective to reduce the incidence of obesity and its related complications.
- Develop and test intervention strategies to reduce the incidence of diabetes and thus the economic burden.
- Promotion of educational facilities for pre-diabetics and also for primary health care providers i.e., doctors, nurses and technicians.
- Promotion of Awareness Programs on prevention of diabetes for the community, through the print and electronic media, meetings and workshops.
- Preparation of education material like brochures, short motivational videos and text messages on prevention of diabetes for the community, in national and regional languages.
- Development of a user-friendly website and mobile app for community that can track physical activity, for example step counter, intake of water and calories, sleep patterns and BMI of its users.
- Hypertension, Dyslipidemia and obesity to take on board as well.
- Alliance building with other Community Leaders, Educationist, Religious Scholars for setting a movement to bring about change more effectively.
